What to do this summer in Vendée?

Summer events not to be missed

Ideally located in the heart of the Vendée, Camping Village de la Guyonnière is an excellent starting point for tourist activities in the 85 region. 

In addition to the must-see sites and top attractions in the Vendée, which you can find on our Region page, we have listed the events of the 2026 season that are not to be missed. 

With sporting events, festivals and local celebrations, as well as entertainment at the campsite, it’s impossible to get bored when you come on holiday to Camping Village de la Guyonnière.

Here’s everything you need to plan your stay. Be warned, you may want to stay longer!

Sporting events in Vendée

⚽️ Football World Cup – 11 June to 19 July 2026

In 2026, don’t forget to pack your fan jersey in your suitcase. All World Cup matches will be broadcast on the screens in the campsite bar. And for important matches, head to the giant screen next to the stage! 

🏃 Les Foulées du Gois – 20 June

In this unique race, participants challenge the rising tide on the famous submersible road of the Passage du Gois. It’s an opportunity to explore the beautiful island of Noirmoutier while enjoying the festive atmosphere of this sporting event. Attention sports enthusiasts, registration is here.

🥇 Ironman 70.3 Les Sables d’Olonne – 5 July 2026

In the unique setting of the most beautiful bay in the world, athletes from all over the world come to push themselves to the limit in this giant triathlon. 2km of swimming in the legendary channel of Les Sables d’Olonne, 90km of cycling between the marshes and the ocean, then 21km of running on the embankment. Come and enjoy this exceptional atmosphere by the beach.

Music festival and festivals all summer long in Vendée

🎶 Music Festival – 21 June

Throughout Vendée, free concerts are organised in towns and villages to celebrate the arrival of summer with music. More information at the campsite reception.  

🔥 Saint John’s Fire – Martinet (20 or 27 June)

Just 10 minutes from the campsite, come and watch the biggest Saint John’s Fire in the Vendée. Concerts and food available on site.

🎷 Festival des Sables – Les Sables d’Olonne (25-26-27 June)

For its second edition, the Festival des Sables welcomes 6 artists for 3 evenings of concerts facing the sea. Check out the programme for this French song festival here. 

✨ Les concerts Sablais – July-August

All summer long, the town of Les Sables d’Olonne comes alive to the rhythm of music. Several times a week, free concerts are organised in the town’s iconic venues: Jardin du Tribunal, Tanchet beach, Saint-Nicolas church, Saint-Jean d’Orbestier Abbey and Aire des Vallées. And what’s more: every evening on the embankment, artists perform alongside other artists, magicians and clowns. Several times a week in the Jardin du Tribunal.

🍃 Les Jaunay’Stivales – Thursdays in July and August

Close to the campsite, free cultural evenings are organised in unique natural settings on Thursday evenings during the summer. These include Lake Jaunay. Concerts, shows and fireworks – for more information, visit the campsite reception. 

🎸 Poupet Festival – Saint Malô du Bois (1st to 24th July)

An hour’s drive from the campsite, this well-known French festival offers a varied programme ranging from rock to French chanson and electro.

Events and activities not to be missed this summer in Vendée

⛵️ Vendée Arctique – Les Sables d’Olonne (30 May – 7 June)

Does solo ocean racing make you dream? The skippers are back in Les Sables d’Olonne with their Imoca boats for the Vendée Arctique. This is the first stage before the 2028 Vendée Globe. This time, they’re heading north to cross the Arctic Circle before returning to port. 

Violette Dorange and her competitors will be moored at the Vendée Globe pontoon, where entertainment will be provided throughout the week. The race starts on 7 June! 

🪁 Wind Festival – Notre-Dame-de-Monts (3-5 July 2026)

Imagine thousands of kites filling the sky in all shapes and colours. Marvel at the impressive ballet of kites on the large regatta beach at Notre Dame de Monts. Throughout the weekend, day and night, shows, discovery workshops and wind-themed activities are offered on the embankment. Ideal for a family outing.

🚐 Vintage Fun Cup – Fromentine (7–9 August 2026)

Are you a vanlifer at heart? (Re)immerse yourself in the festive world of vanlife for a weekend in a retro atmosphere. On the programme: vintage windsurfing regattas, entertainment, concerts, an exhibitors‘ village and the unmissable VW Combi parade. Good vibes guaranteed!

Historical festivals in Vendée

🧵 Once Challans – Thursdays in July and August

Stroll through the streets of the town as if you were a Vendée resident of yesteryear. Discover the lives and skills of the farmers and craftsmen who once lived and worked in the Vendée. 

🌾 Festival of Old Trades – Île d’Olonne (18-19 July)

Farriers, stonemasons, clog makers… discover the trades and traditions of yesteryear. Old tractors, carts and threshing machines line the streets of this charming village, transporting you back to another era. Take the opportunity to visit the superb Moulin Guéffar mill and stroll through the salt marshes.

🏰 Show at Talmont Castle – from 6 July to 28 August 

The epic tale of Richard the Lionheart is brought to life in a show combining song, dance, equestrian acrobatics and pyrotechnics. Plus: 🦅Falconry shows – Monday to Friday at 11.30am and 3.30pm – ⚔️knight shows – Monday to Friday at 2.30pm and 5.15pm.

🏰 Les Médiévales de Commequiers – early August

Just 20 minutes from the campsite, step back in time to the Middle Ages at Les Médiévales de Commequiers. At the foot of the castle, medieval village, shows and entertainment. Fireworks in the evening.

🏰 Show at the Château d’Apremont – July-August

From 13 July to 14 August, the Château d’Apremont takes you back to the Middle Ages with shows from Monday to Friday at 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
